Studio Quack works at the interface of art, design and architecture. Thomas Quack's profession is temporary installations, interventions in public spaces as well as graphic and exhibition design. The focus is on experimentation and a sustainable approach to local and reusable materials. Depending on the location and project, the approach, the object and the materials vary. Studio Quack works across Europe with artists, architects, artisans and institutions on human-scale projects that are deeply rooted in local conditions and change both the original character of the place and the perspective of the viewer. "We are pushing the boundaries of public space, experimenting with it and rethinking it."
For this year's CityLeaks Festival, Thomas Quack is realising the design of the temporary Pop Up Garden in Hüttenstraße in collaboration with Jan-Philip Neuer. This includes various raised bed constructions, garden plots, rain catchment systems and urban furniture. In a collaborative process with students of ecosign/ Akademie für Gestaltung, the neighbourhood and interested members of the public, a joint project of urban agriculture is being created that will permanently change the view of urban open and green spaces and their potential for use.
