MATHIEU TREMBLIN was born in Le Mans in 1980. He now lives in Strasbourg, but works all over Europe. Inspired by anonymous and spontaneous forms of expression and protest in urban space, Tremblin performs simple, playful actions by which he seeks to subvert and question urban sign and legal systems. He intervenes site-specifically in urban space, offers tours, designs tools, creatively misuses objects and gadgets and documents his often-singular experiments and interventions with texts, installations, photos and videos. Apart from his artistic work, Tremblin is also developing research, programme and workshop systems for examining the interconnection of independent art projects, urbanity and empowerment: Paper Tigers Collection (since 2010), Office de la créativité (2011-2013), Villes et villages en jachère (2018) among others.
